As we progress through the Sort-Out phase of the pre-season, we'd like to recognize that the upcoming sort-out process will be an exciting and anxious time for players and their families. Every player wants to put in their best efforts during the evaluation sessions to demonstrate their skills and abilities. Our goal is to ensure that the sort-out process is as transparent and fair as possible to give all participants the confidence that the on-ice performance of the players is what determines the outcome of the process.
For these reasons, RMMHA has put these guidelines in place to make the evaluation and team formation process is as transparent as possible:

Evaluators chosen must have no interest in the outcome of the evaluation process they are selected for. e.g. Parents who have a child in age group or potential coaches for an age level are not permitted to evaluate for that age group.

Players are ranked according to Hockey Canada's guidelines for each age group. All age groups are ranked on skills such as skating, shooting, puck handling and game play. The weighting on each of these categories varies by level with more focus on game play for older age groups.

Teams are formed based solely on each player's sortout rankings. For the age groups where Hockey Canada's Pathways policies apply, any applicable Pathways guidelines will also be followed.

Coaches are selected for the levels in which their children have been placed. The coach selection committee will consist of these members of the RMMHA executive: President, Vice-President of House, Vice-President of Competitive, Director of Hockey Operations, Assistant Director of Hockey Operations. Director of Equipment, Director of Risk and Safety. All coaches will be reviewed and approved by the committee to ensure alignment with the vision and mission of RMMHA.
